The U.S Administration on Aging Pension Counseling and Information Program offer free legal aid to seniors across thirty US states. This program is dedicated to handling the administrative appeals process, helping seniors recover ‘lost’ pension plans, and answering any queries you might have about complex pension plans. So far, the program has regained $205 million in pension benefits to those who are owed them, serving more than 52,000 seniors in the process.

In 2016 alone, The PBGC claim that it paid out $5.6 billion in pension plans owed to previous employees. These benefits went to nearly 861,000 individuals whose single-employer plans failed them. According to the website, there are still 38,000 people who haven’t claimed pensions that they are owed. If you want to search for your lost pension, visit the PBGC website as they have a database of everyone is who is owed money. Simply search your name or ex-company to see if you are on their list.
