Although Minnesota has a liking for its beautiful natural landscapes, this state of 10,000 lakes is not the most friendly when it comes to people who want to retire. Minnesota is one place that isn’t very tax-friendly towards retirees. The state will happily tax social security benefits and military, government and private pensions, which in various other states are tax exempt.

Minnesota has an under average household income for over 65s, which is at 13% below. Lifetime healthcare and median house value for those older than 65 are also a lot higher than the national average in this state.
