6. Self-Publish a Book

Self-publishing a book is a fantastic way to earn passive income, and with Amazon, there are several ways to do this. These include Kindle, print, and audio.

There are many perks of publishing a book on Kindle, it’s completely free and takes less than 5-minutes. You’ll also own the rights to your books, and earn up to 70% royalty. Publishing on Amazon’s CreateSpace is also free, and you’ll be able to publish and distribute your book within days. Also, 80% of the royalties will be yours.

If you want to create an audiobook, use Amazon’s Audiobook Creation Exchange to distribute it through Audible, Amazon and iTunes.

7. Join Mechanical Turk

Mechanical Turk is an Amazon platform where people can post jobs and tasks for specific prices. Individual tasks are called HITs (Human Intelligence Tasks), and you can get paid to complete them.

Tasks include opinion surveys, transcription and data entry. All can be completed from your own home and in your own time. How much money you make depends on which tasks you complete, and how much time they take.

Mechanical Turk might not be your next full-time gig, but you can expect to make some serious side cash.

8. Apply to Amazon Handmade

Amazon Handmade is basically Amazon’s answer to Etsy. Though, it’s not as easy to start selling. You must apply, and have Amazon confirm that all your goods are made by you or a member of your team of 20 or fewer employees.

Here’s what you need to know before you apply:

  • Amazon charges a 15% commission and a $1 minimum referral fee. (Etsy charges just $0.20 to list items and takes a small commission of 3.5%.)
  • Handmade products don’t show up of Amazon’s main search engine.

However, Amazon still has a huge audience, so it might be a good fit for you.

9. Sell Your Designs

If you’re an artist, you could sell your designs on t-shirts using Merch by Amazon.

It’s as simple as uploading your artwork to Merch, then choose a color, product type, and price. Once a customer buys your design, Amazon takes care of the production, shipping, and customer service.

Whichever price you set for your designs, dictates how much you’ll earn in royalties. You can find the full list here, and the price changes which will happen on January 15, 2018.

The process to join Merch is pretty similar to Amazon Handmade. You must fill out an application form, and if you’re successful you’ll be sent an invitation to start selling.

10. Go Camping

Yes, you read that right. Amazon does everything. Amazon does camping.

The CamperForce program will pay for utilities and camping ground fees for RVers who agree to do paid seasonal work warehouse work. This takes place early fall through Dec. 23 and work includes “picking, packing, stowing and receiving.”

Amazon says that the program offers “great pay, a paid completion bonus, paid referral bonuses and paid campsites… along with the chance to build lasting relationships with your coworkers.”

11. Trade-In Your Used Tech

If you weren’t already aware, Amazon has a trade-in program. This program allows customers to trade in old items including, books, phones, gaming consoles and other electronics.

You’ll be paid in the form of Amazon gift cards, and Amazon will cover the shipping costs, too. If some of your trade-ins are purchases that you have previously made from Amazon, you will be able to automatically view the value from your purchase history on your Amazon Account.

This makes trading your items very easy, and you’ll know exactly how much money you can make.
