14 Things Hackers Can Do with Your Data
12. Steal Your Frequent Flyer Miles
If you possess anything valuable, often or not thieves will try to steal it. The same can be said for frequent flyer miles. Hackers can get access to victim’s logins and other details. A few years back, both American Airlines and United customer accounts were hacked. And, in at least two reported cases, cyber-criminals booked flights, and upgrades like first class using the stolen air miles. In this instance, the victims got all of their miles back, but it’s a great reminder to frequently change your passwords and closely monitor your accounts. To remain safe, never post pictures of your boarding pass on social media, and if you have multiple rewards accounts use different usernames and passwords for each. Since, many airline sites have upgraded their security measures and monitor any suspicious behavior.
