If you’re after a career in the medical field, it pays a lot more to be a neurosurgeon, than a regular doctor. Neurosurgeons treat patients through brain and spinal surgery and other disorders of the central and peripheral system.

To get this job you’ll need to attend 4 years of pre-medical education at a college or university. Then, 4 years of medical school where you will earn an M.D or D.O degree. After this, you’ll typically take a one year internship in a general surgery, before working from 5 to 7 years in a neurosurgery program. Naturally, it’s a lot of education to pay for. But the salary is huge. A 2011 study found that the median salary is $395,000 which rose to $589,500 after 6 years of practice.
